University House functions as a sort of embassy, catering for both formal and informal university business and entertaining on the ground floor as well as accomodating a modest apartment for the Principal and family on the upper floor. Following the directors’ involvement in the original design, Strathclyde Unitversity engaged studioKAP to modify and extend the house some years later. The architectural language of the house was consciously non-domestic in character to signify its civic function and our extension seamlessly continued this aesthetic.
