Waddell House
Pollokshields, Glasgow

8 month traditional contract ·
The Waddell House is a thorough-going reconfiguration of a classic sandstone villa in the Victorian garden suburb of Pollokshields. Although as a part of this process the house was extended, the increase in the building footprint is actually very modest. The work here was much more about re-inhabiting the existing stone walls of the building in different ways, facilitating new patterns of family living at a time approaching 150 years after the house was originally built. The centre of gravity of the dwelling is quite significantly shifted, new internal relationships are unlocked and the house now relates in an entirely different way to its garden.
