Burnbrae II

Kippen, Stirlingshire

2010

Burnbrae II results from the subdivision of a large single-house site on the edge of Kippen in Stirlingshire and delicate planning negotiations took place regarding positioning in relation to the village boundary before an additional house was permitted to proceed. The inherent economies and volumetric possibilities of the “longhouse” theme initiated in Fintry are further explored. The materials and construction of the house were developed as a sustainable building system in close consultation with Natural Building Technologies. Energy requirements are met by a combination of geothermal heat pump and highly efficient woodburning boiler.
