Crarae Avenue

Westerton, Glasgow

A new residential development on the site of the disused Westerton Parish Church Hall on a hillside above the local rail Station in this western suburb of Glasgow. The topography of this steeply sloping site rendered a traditional flatted solution to the development difficult and required a more complex section to resolve cross-over, parking and accessible entrance levels. The solution combined ten residential units, both flatted and duplex, within a single block designed to read as a more homogenous, contemporary mansion block rather than a more regimented, tenemented solution. To compensate for the substantial outlay required in the groundworks aspect of the project, a highly efficient prefabricated solid timber panel system is employed for the above ground construction.
