A Symphony of House and Garden

A Symphony of House and Garden

Professor Christopher Platt
8th December 2021

Over 50 years ago, Peter and Margaret Aldington designed and built their own house in Haddenham, Buckinghamshire. Shortly afterwards, two adjacent houses were added, the garden expanded and the whole ensemble immediately recognised as a small masterpiece.

Through many publications and public open days it continues to be an inspiration to many people and to ourselves.

We paid a memorable visit to the Aldingtons recently. Time seemed to change pace as we walked and talked in the sublime, beautifully crafted interiors. Each space’s connection with the landscape is unique as is the landscape’s marriage with the architecture. An unforgettable treat.
