Our ongoing site works to a Grade A listed mansion by Alexander Thomson is nearing completion. Previous rough stonework has been refaced and repointed, and behind the existing wall linings we’ve discovered an old stone lined fireplace and timber lintels, all still in good condition.
Each will play a more visible role in this re-configured service accommodation, as these spaces evolve into a generous kitchen and dining area.
A new narrative begins to develop which draws out hitherto hidden characteristics and marries them with the cleaner lines and surfaces of the smooth plaster finishes and oak parquet flooring.
