A New Type of Space

A New Type of Space

Professor Christopher Platt
7th October 2021

An unused backyard is being transformed into a new family space for relaxing, eating and enjoying the garden.

It is a versatile garden room designed to accommodate different activities simultaneously. An integrated table and seating inglenook, window seat and book shelving made of Douglas Fir match the ceiling and wall linings, giving the space a warm and calm character. Outside the inglenook lies a new discreet sunny courtyard. Visible from the generous bay window seating, the open garden area can be enjoyed through frameless glazing.

Built by our longstanding collaborators, Standard Construction, it transforms the everyday into something very special.
