Navigating the Planning Process

Navigating the Planning Process

Projects set in areas of outstanding natural beauty or involving listed buildings often undergo intense scrutiny by Planning Departments. Their underlying presumption appears to be that something ‘new’ can never be as good as something ‘old’. Yet everything was ‘new’ once.

We sometimes deviate from planning guidelines for sound, architectural reasons. We avoid compromise by using text, drawings and models to explain our architectural rationale and how important construction and detail is to the final reality.

We have hosted planners on tours of our built projects as exemplars which allowed them to experience the actual design quality which we were advocating for at the time of application.
